Welcome to Dorchester Corn Exchange
Right in the centre of the county town, just off the A35 and a short walk from Dorchester South and West stations, you’ll find our main home – the historic Dorchester Corn Exchange. Recently refurbished, it now boasts a stylish art gallery, bar, and café space, making it the perfect spot for events big or small. Over the years, we’ve welcomed just about everything you can imagine – from book signings, poetry readings and craft fairs, to Mayor Making ceremonies, Black History Month celebrations, and even welcomed a herd of brightly painted elephants as part of a county-wide charity event! Whether it’s a wedding, a conference, or a community get-together, the Corn Exchange has the flexibility (and charm) to make your event really special.We have three spaces available for hire:
- The Corn Exchange (Auditorium and adjoining spaces)
A versatile space with or without 150 raked seats, plus theatrical lighting and sound. Perfect for theatre shows, conferences, parties or weddings. Depending on the setup, it can host up to 120 seated at tables or around 275 standing with stage. A large cinema screen and surround sound are also available. A smaller room to one side can be used as a dressing room, breakout room or preparation/support space and includes a small kitchen space. - Dorchester Town Hall
A bright and elegant space, filled with natural light. A popular choice for weddings and big celebrations, it comfortably seats up to 60 people at tables or 100 standing/theatre style seating. - The Art Gallery and Bar
Ideal for smaller gatherings and meetings of up to 30 people (theatre style). This light-filled space is surrounded by beautiful artwork and is right next to our bar and café – a welcoming spot for more informal events.
We can also provide on request a fully staffed bar for your event, the set-up of tables and chairs and some technical support.
All the spaces are equipped with support systems for those with hearing loss.
A screen and/or projector are available in all spaces.
We also offer portable LED lights and a modular stage for hire, perfect for community and arts groups putting on events elsewhere. For further details, please contact enquiries@dorchesterarts.org.uk
