DYT Edinburgh
Come with us on a dive to darkest deepest Dorset where the shipwrecks lie inland, and the watery graves of the living are aplenty.
‘Wildly inventive’, Fringe debut of this ‘terrific ensemble’.
Come be part of the shoal!
In August 2024, we plan to take 11 of our Performance Company to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Running for three weeks in August. Last year there were 3500 shows, 280 venues and 51,000 performances making Edinburgh Festival Fringe one of the greatest celebrations of arts and culture on the planet.
Our company will perform a brand-new play, Triggerfish, created by themselves and professional writer/ director Ed Viney.
This experience is well and truly the biggest project we have ever undertaken, but we know it will be the most incredible experience for our young people and we are determined to make it work.
Our play will premiere at the Corn Exchange in Dorchester in June, for our Dorchester community to see what wonderful, inspiring, talented young people we have in our town.
We will then transfer to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where we will performing at TheSpace @ Niddry St. from 5th– 9th August.
The delightful thing about the Fringe is that it also gives our company the chance to watch and experience other shows, which is so important for them to learn more about theatre and to support other companies.
Our project has a budget of £19,000
The 11 Performance Company members have been tasked to raise £1000 each towards the costs and we are hoping to raise the remainder through fundraising and sponsorship.
If you are able to make a donation, we’d be hugely grateful. You can do this by clicking on the button below, but please also email Kathy at finance@dorchesterarts.org.uk and tell her so that she can make sure it is earmarked for DYT. Thanks!
We are fiercely proud of all our young people, the work they make, the respect they have for each other and the commitment and drive they all have to make good quality theatre. We strive to do the best for them with our limited resources and we want to give them experiences they will carry with them for years to come. They certainly deserve it.
