Thurs 22 & Wed 28 February • Thomas Hardye School Musical Showcases

Thomas Hardye School Musical Showcases

The Thomas Hardye School presents a concert series of solo performances by sixth-form students who are taking Music A-level. As ever, there will be a great variety of music and a great deal of talent on show. Where else are you
likely to hear a classical singer, solos on electric guitar, oboe, trombone, or drum kit all in the same concert?

These annual concerts have grown more and more popular in the last 10 years and are a wonderful opportunity for audiences to hear and support our own young musicians.

Somerleigh Players present
The Boadicea of Britannia Street

In celebration of World Women’s Day, Dorchester Arts Associate Amateur Theatre Group, Somerleigh Players, presents Ade Morris’s funny and very touching play about female friendship.  Local journalist Fran, PE teacher Penny, shy librarian Janet and feisty Annie form a writing group. Over the course of a few weeks, home truths are shared – along with a lot of tea and vodka.  Inspired by Boadicea’s courage, these women face their demons, overcome their enemies and move on as friends to a better future. If only all women had friends like these…

During the evening, there will be an opportunity to make a donation to The Domestic Abuse Welfare Board: providing support and training for people with domestic abuse issues .

Thur 15 March • Dorchester Piano Quartet

Dorchester Piano Quartet

We are delighted to welcome The Dorchester Piano Quartet for their first lunchtime concert at the Corn Exchange. The programme is: Schumann – Adagio and Allegro for cello and piano and Brahms – Piano Quartet in C minor.

Schumann completed this well-received piece at a time in his life when he was particularly happy with his work.  After he died, the complex relationship between Brahms and Schumann’s widow, Clara, continued, and often found expression in works such as the Piano Quartet in C minor, written in a way to express his love for Clara.
