A storming juggernaut of cool power-folk with a jaw-dropping repertoire. You can’t help but marvel at their astounding musicianship.”Folk Wales
Calan are arguably one of Britain’s most innovative and thrilling bands. We can’t wait to welcome them to the Corn Exchange in this, their first major post-lockdown tour.
They will be showcasing their critically acclaimed new album Kistvaen. Recorded just before the pandemic, live performances of the album were suspended… until now.
Expect intricate, captivating melodies and mesmerising harmonies underpinned with foot-stamping, crowd-pleasing rhythms. Calan’s bewildering array of instruments includes guitars, fiddles, bagpipes, harps, accordions, vocals… and, likely as not, world-class step and clog dancing.
“Calan reach out beyond folk,” says Folk Radio UK, “breathing fire into old traditions with infectious, high voltage performances.”
The Corn Exchange is on High East Street in the heart of the town. For Sat Nav users, our postcode is DT1 1HF. Nearby parking can be found in the various town centre car parks (see map above). Unfortunately there is no parking available on site.
Dorchester Corn Exchange has wheelchair access and toilet facilities for wheelchair users. If you have any specific requirements, such as being seated near to the front should you be partially sighted, then please let us know when booking tickets and we are more than happy to help.
The fully-licenced bar opens half an hour before each performance.
Tickets can currently be purchased online or by telephone. The telephone line is manned between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday. At all other times please leave your name, telephone number and ticket requirements and we will call you back.
