Dorchester Corn Exchange
2.30pm (doors & refreshments 2pm)
£14 / £12 members and concessions
From 1702, the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane staged vibrant and glittering entertainments of music, dance, and acrobatics during the intervals of spoken plays. Recorder player Olwen Foulkes – accompanied by theorbo and cello – introduces the music and musicians featured in these fashionable interval concerts. The programme includes fiery sonatas by Arcangelo Corelli and Giuseppe Sammartini, and beautiful suites by less well-known musicians James Paisible, Matthew Locke, and John Grano.
The Corn Exchange is on High East Street in the heart of the town. For Sat Nav users, our postcode is DT1 1HF. Nearby parking can be found in the various town centre car parks (see map above). Unfortunately there is no parking available on site.
Dorchester Corn Exchange has wheelchair access and toilet facilities for wheelchair users. If you have any specific requirements, such as being seated near to the front should you be partially sighted, then please let us know when booking tickets and we are more than happy to help.
The fully-licenced bar opens half an hour before each performance.
The box office is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm. At all other times please leave your name, telephone number and ticket requirements and we will call you back. No booking fees are charged, but a £1 Future Fund levy is included in most ticket prices to support our work. This levy is included in the published ticket price. Concessionary prices (for events promoted by Dorchester Arts): Where available, these are offered to under 18’s, students, those in receipt of benefits and people on low income regardless of age.
